We love the harvest season, that period of late summer and fall when the crops have ripened, the bounty picked, and the bushels are brought to market to share. The vibrancy and tenacity of the harvest is best showcased at local farmers markets. It is at these community gatherings that we are reminded that the best food stems from an important connection: a mutual dependency between farmers and the natural world. At the market, we receive the yield of their persistence and care. Our local farmers markets remind us that the best crops do not grow year round in concrete warehouses, but by the season, by the sun, rain and soil of native clime.
